Zero Express (Long Beach, CA) – Grand Opening!

Zero Express (Long Beach, CA) on The Episodic Eater

As you may know, I am bouncing ALL over the place when it comes to food.  My food maps are pretty extensive, as you can see!  That’s why when I was invited to the preview of Zero Express in Long Beach, which I pass practically every day… I was there!

Everything is freshly made with quality ingredients, and you can really taste it!  I drank EVERY drink on the menu, and I’m sharing every single one with you sweet folks.  🙂

In addition to the drinks on the menu, you can get them in a bottle (like I did above), add boba (which I did to a couple), and add a tamarind straw.  I used the straw in the Mangonada, which I totally forgot to photograph, but it’s on my Snapchat (@episodiceater) if you follow me there!

Now, for my favorites, from bottom to top!  By the way, I totally thought they were all worth trying at least once.  In fact, all of us had slightly different picks, with a couple that were standouts for everyone!

Matchata  |  Ube Milk  |  Orange Mojito  |  Ube Milk Tea

13.  Matchata: This was still really great, but the other coffee ones just knocked it out of the park for me!

12.  Ube Milk:  I did like this version, but the blended milk was HEAVENLY in my opinion

11.  Orange Mojito:  I was in the mood for creamy, but I would crave this on a hot summer day, for sure!

10.  Ube Milk Tea:  Really, two Ube’s in the bottom even though I LOVE the flavor?  Seriously, it was such a tight race for the top!

House Coffee  |  Mangonada  |  Sea Salt Jasmine Green Tea

9.  House Coffee:  You so need this for your new morning go-to drink.

8.  Mangonada:  Easily the most inventive, crazy drink on the menu!  It’s spicy, sweet, and with the tamarind straw, a real head turner!

7.  Sea Salt Jasmine Green Tea:  Green tea always catches my eye… and my tastebuds!
Strawberry Mojito  |  Thai Tea  |  Ube Milk (blended)

6.  Strawberry Mojito:  I looooved this drink so much that I didn’t mind that it was missing the rum.  🙂

5.  Thai Tea:  Another of my favorite drinks of all time and I still found four drinks that made it higher on the list?  Yep, this place is going to be addicting…

4.  Ube Milk (blended):  It’s just like drinking a milkshake.  I converted someone who hadn’t ever had ube before to a fanatic with this drink alone.

Coffee Horchata  |  Watermelon Slush  |  Strawberry Milk

3.  Coffee Horchata:  Secret time: I can’t drink coffee without my stomach doing flips.  But seriously, I’ll deal with it just to drink this again and again and again.

2.  Watermelon Slush:  Suuuper refreshing and somehow kept the slush texture for a really long time even throughout my tasting!  And I know this sounds strange, but it just tasted so watermelon-y. Obviously, the fresh ingredients make this one a star!

1.  Strawberry Milk:  I wasn’t sure that I would like the flavor of Strawberry Milk on its own, so I added boba to at least make it fun to drink.  OMG, I was so so wrong.  This was the first one I finished because I loved it so much!  The chunks of fresh strawberries were so amazing, I’m having flashbacks right now…

By the way, when you visit and get your drink, make sure to mix it all up!  Whether you shake it or stir it up,  get all those lovely layers combined into one delicious drink.  🙂  Also, remember to add boba or a tamarind straw as a bonus!  I can’t wait to go back and taste the rainbow myself.  😉
