The Oinkster (Los Angeles, CA)

I was meeting my friend for dinner when our original plans fell through.  We were way out east, so we had to rack our brains for something nearby and yummy.  Luckily, I remembered The Oinkster!  For those of you unfamiliar with the restaurant, it looks like an ordinary burger joint, but the chef comes from the world of fine-dining, and his twists on ordinary comfort food made with quality ingredients is unbeatable!

Located in Eagle Rock, the sign and building look fairly standard, but the full parking lot and the tagline “Slow Fast Food” signal something delicious lies within…

I love that inside looks probably just like the original burger restaurant did, but with a completely different menu!

Ube Milkshake
Featuring Fosselman’s Ice Cream

The other milkshake/malt flavors are standard vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, BUT the huge draw is the ube flavor.  It is a purple yam that makes an amazing shake.  Yum!

I’m kinda in love with these fries.  Besides they go perfect with the sandwich I ordered…

Oinkster Pastrami
Our House Cured Pastrami served with Red Cabbage Coleslaw, Caramelized Onions and Gruyere Cheese. Served with a Pickle Spear.

Honestly, I thought I would only eat half of the sandwich… but of course I had the whole thing.  đź™‚  So, so good!

Banana Split Cupcake

This was the special cupcake of the day.  It looked too festive to pass up.  đź™‚  We ended up closing the place down, but sign was still lit up all when we left.

The food here never disappoints, so this will definitely stay on my favorites list.  đź™‚  It’s a good thing that I don’t live too nearby!
