Romeo and Juliet. Peanut butter and jelly. Peas and carrots. Some things were just made for each other and The Dirty Cookie capitalizes on one of our favorites: cookies and milk! Opening in the new Union Market at The District in Tustin, I was excited to spy the sign hanging on the wall and pop in during a sneak peek of the tiny new shop. 🙂
The three options on the menu are cookie shots, cookie sandwiches, and milks on tap!
- Cookie shots: chocolate chip, red velvet, cookies & cream
- Cookie sandwiches: matcha sesame (green tea cookie with black sesame buttercream filling) and chocolmint (chocolate cookie with mint buttercream filling)
- Milks on tap: Madagascar vanilla cream, chocolate milk cream, vanilla almond milk, regular milk (all organic)
By the way, both milks are organic and both creams are made with organic milk. Normally, I pick vanilla over chocolate, but both creams are like liquid heaven. The vanilla is sweet and creamy, while the chocolate is like liquid heaven… It tastes a little like a chocolate bar, chocolate donut glaze, and chocolate milk had a baby. Divine!
Cookie monster served up my cookie shot, which I made sure to gobble up right away. I was afraid that the shot would fall apart before I had the chance to drink the cream, so I drank the majority of it before biting into the cookie.
It wasn’t necessary though because the cookie is thick enough to withstand the cream, and they coat it with extra chocolate! Also, I was left with too much cookie at the bottom, so I ordered some extra milk and learned my lesson for the next shot.
Speaking of…
Sorry to break it to you, but… I don’t like red velvet. I certainly don’t buy into the hypo, nor do I believe that it tastes any different than something chocolate. However, I do know that it looks pretty in pictures and I was willing to give it a chance.
I’m so glad I did, because it was fantastic! I loved the white chocolate on the inside, and the vanilla cream with it was delicious! On the last shot, I figured that doubling up on the chocolate would be amazing, and I was right. I think that any of the milks or creams would be fantastic with any of the shots, but the vanilla was the best for the red velvet in my opinion.
Next time, I want to try that Cookies & Cream shot with Vanilla Almond Milk, as well as both of the Cookie Sandwiches. Hopefully, there’s room for more than one Cookie Monster in the store!
