I first heard about Sake Express from my friend who worked for the non-profit Little Tokyo Service Center. Every year they have a sake tasting, silent auction, and raffle in order to raise funds, and everyone has lots of fun too! Besides, there were some really great restaurants dishing out their best eats, which I can’t wait to share. Yum!
This year, the LTSC Sake & Food Tasting Event was named Sake Express because they held it at the beautiful Union Station.
They shut down this area to have the silent auction.
As for the sake, they had 25 different breweries representing all parts of Japan.
Oh, and before you think that there were only 25 drinks to try, each brewery had multiple drinks.
There was a wide range of drinks, including this sake in a can. Fun!
My beer-loving man was excited to try a few different breweries!
These local brewers even had a lychee ale!
Now, to the food!
Chinese Chicken Salad
Sushi & Huli Huli Salad
I really, really loved these, so I asked for extra!
Yakitori
Braised Pork Belly “Kakuni”
with Wasabi Potato Mousseline
&
Chilled Somen
Lobster Potstickers
Pork Belly
Mochi
Sake Ice Cream
Thai Tea with Boba & Thai Coffee
By the end of the event, we were happy to sit under the stars and cross our fingers during the raffle. 🙂
I can’t wait until next year!
