Could this post be more different than the James Beard Taste America event?
I have been to this restaurant a few times because it is so conveniently located near the mall and the center of a huge Asian and Indian community. Really, it is a great place to get a great deal of ethnic groceries and sample their cuisine.
Pho Tasty is a Vietnamese restaurant, whose specialty is the aforementioned pho. It is ALWAYS busy and for good reason. The prices are dirt cheap, the service is lightning quick, the decor is no frills, and the food is delicious!
To start, I ordered a coconut juice with young coconut pieces. We met my mother who was in the area, and she actually enjoyed it! Believe me, if the juice passed her test, then it deserves special mention.
I forgot to take a picture of the spring rolls that were ordered for appetizers. One reason, were these fantastic chicken skewers.
These two huge skewers were $4 and a huge amount of food. I don’t know what kind of glaze and seasoning they used, but they were grilled to perfection and so tender inside. Really, I could eat this every day and be a happy girl!
The main event is always the pho here. The broth is always tasty, the beef perfectly sliced, and the vegetables plentiful. They pile a huge amount of bean sprouts, lime wedges, and Thai basil on a plate for everyone to share. You can add sauces of all kinds to your liking: sweet, spicy, and peppery.
Just remember, if you get the Super Bowl size (which is such a great deal) remember to bring your elastic pants!
