Alert! Alert! GD Bro Burger is opening in Signal Hill on Saturday, February 6th at noon, and I had an inside sneak peek of their second brick-and-mortar location. You may remember their award-winning truck from Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race, and you definitely cannot forget that red bun. 🙂
There is one item that is unique to this location, PLUS there are a couple items that I remixed to make some AMAZING off-menu items… You will definitely want to check it out!
As you may see from their logo below (and the picture above), they are known for their photogenic raspberry buns and their frequent appearances on food porn-y Instagram accounts. It’s for a good reason! They have their finger on the pulse of what is trendy and they just kick it up a notch. However, it’s not just for adventurous foodies, people who like traditional comfort food will keep coming back for more.
Now, let’s get to the food!
This is the burger that is new to the Signal Hill location. Oh. Em. Gee. Even if you live closer to the Santa Ana spot, this is SO worth the drive! Even on the 405. In rush hour. I mean it.
The chicken is perfectly light and crispy, with so much juiciness, I would have thought this is the kind of sandwich they specialize in making. The cole slaw is perfectly dressed and a needed shot of color for all of those Instagram-ers out there. And the cherry on the top is that addicting Honey Sriracha sauce… Maybe they should change the expression to “the Honey Sriracha sauce on top” because I feel like it could instantly make anything better. 🙂
Okay, so this was Day 2 of my healthy eating plan, and I had secretly planned to eat just a fry or two… until I tasted these! Not only are these the exact thickness that I love, the parmesan sauce is practically addicting…
I had to add an egg to at least one burger… and this was it! The pineapple and teriyaki glaze combine to make this an explosion of sweetness, but the pepper jack helps to balance all that out. Add an egg, and we’re golden!
Normally these are on the Italian Stallion burger, but who can say no to cheese! 🙂
Perusing the menu, I just HAD to order this Mexican-inspired burger! The jalapeño cream cheese was wonderfully spicy and creamy, and the combination of flavors is exactly what you’ve always wanted from a taco… but on a burger! This one is SERIOUSLY crave-worthy!
I can’t say anything about this one, because someone else ordered it and it had bacon. 🙁 But it just looked like a crazy mess with all that barbecue sauce, chips, and bacon thrown around, I had to share it! Maybe next time I can try it minus the bacon… or plus turkey bacon that I smuggle in myself… 😉
I decided to try out their traditional Consuela Fries, but with mozzarella sticks instead, just to mix things up a bit. Because if you love frying your potatoes, frying your cheese is gonna be delicious too!
+ Jalapeño cream cheese stuffed, pico de gallo, avocado chipotle mayo
Yet another off-menu creation of two of their famous burgers! Tanaya wanted to double the patties, and she doubled the flavor too! A major, major burger that only experts (or people who can unhinge their jaws) should attempt. 😉
And last, but CERTAINLY not least, I came up with this version of the KBBQ Kalbi Poutine Fries with onion rings instead. Honestly, this may be even better than the original version with fries! That’s saying a lot because the fries are already to die for with that amazing short rib/mozzarella/gravy combination. With the onion rings, I just get that extra crave-ability factor, and I seriously want some now!
Not sure if I got special cute girl awesome person food blogger treatment, but if you can… GET THIS. Tell them Diane from The Episodic Eater sent you! Unless this was just a one-time thing… then just stare at the picture above. 😉
By the way, The Episodic Eater is new on Snapchat! Screenshot the pic above and make sure to follow me at
Reminder that this location is opening on Saturday, February 6th at noon, and the first 50 customers in line get a free gift… as if the gift of delicious food isn’t enough!!! It’s already worth the wait, and all that swag is just the “Honey Sriracha sauce on top.” 😉
