As you might know by now, I am picky when it comes to my chain restaurants. I tend towards mom-and-pop restaurants, local events, and small-scale chains. However, there are a few exceptions to the rule, and Corner Bakery is one of them!
It originally started in Chicago, but I grew to love it in California! It was one of the first places where my guy and I ate in college when we were first dating. It is completely casual, but the food is great! Also, I appreciate that they supplied their Nutrition Facts long before it was a rule. Awesome, right!
Here are a few items that we ordered for a quick, delicious weeknight meal.
Roast beef, balsamic onions, tomatoes, and arugula with a creamy goat cheese spread on potato thyme bread.
First of all, you know that when a restaurant has bakery in the title, the bread has got to be good! Every sandwich comes with a pickle spear and bakery chips. The kettle-style chips are fantastic, but to up the health factor, I substituted it for baby carrots. I love that option! Usually, I order a panini, so I asked them to grill this sandwich. I think it is a new favorite!
Smoked turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo.
I forgot to photograph this before the first half was eaten. It’s everything you want in a turkey sandwich!
Also, we had a slice of lemon bundt cake. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture. Hm. This is a pretty disappointing post if you are looking for pictures… However, I suggest that you just take a look for yourself at your nearest Corner Bakery!
