Since I shared our roadside eats at Fatburger on the way to Vegas, I thought I would do the same on the way back. We stopped at El Pollo Loco, a chain of restaurants that started in Mexico and are now found all over the western U.S.
I know most of you are thinking, “Really? Chicken at a fast food restaurant?” Well, this isn’t your typical tasteless gray, slab of chicken breast or a super-fried nugget. In fact, when I mentioned to my dad that I would be blogging about El Pollo Loco, he mentioned that when the first one opened in L.A. over 30 years ago, there were super long lines for blocks and blocks!
Let’s take a peek!
I ordered a salad, which was slightly odd because of the cooked broccoli, but I actually liked it! Also, I needed to detox after all of the junk food I ate!
Here’s the family menu that the rest of the table shared. 🙂
This was one of the sides that they chose, which was a good choice for National French Fry Day!
I took a quick picture before everyone dug in, so it’s not my best photograph. Still, I think you can tell that this isn’t your normal fast-food chicken.
Well, I didn’t picture the tortillas, but all the family meals come with salsa and tortillas, from its Mexican roots.
And that’s it!
