After my last trip to Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee, you would think I was all doughnut-ed out… Wrong! I found out that there are new wonderful flavors each month, so I had an inkling that I would be returning soon. I’m so glad I did!
Without further ado, the September flavors!
Even to someone who didn’t grow up eating peanut butter & jelly sandwiches (this carb queen made spaghetti sandwiches, don’t ask), this is a bit of nostalgia! I adored the peanut butter glaze, and the salted peanuts were a beautiful touch!
Salted caramel is a tricky flavor to get just right, but when it’s done right… it’s practically perfection! I love how fluffy the doughnut was, and the glaze was just the right lightness to complement it!
This doughnut is certainly a pretty picture! For this one, Chef Brooke used rose geranium leaves from her own backyard garden to make a floral scented syrup, which she used to steep the blackberries. *Sigh* I want another…
At first, I thought this resembled the cinnamon crumb doughnut (another of my favorites), but this packed such a punch that they are definitely not from the same family! I love the balance of the floral flavor of the cardamom and the citrusy orange. Yum!
Part of the fun of the malasada is guessing what flavor is going to be inside… and this month’s blackberry apple jam is gorgeous!
While this was not an official monthly flavor, I did not have this on my last trip… so I had to try it! Yet another winner! And this is coming from an old-fashioned doughnut aficionado. 🙂
