Nayada Thai (Lakewood, CA)

I was out with my mom doing some errands nearby, when we decided to eat at the nearest place possible.  We were told by the employee that we should go across the street to Nayada Thai.  I love eating Thai food, cooking Thai food, and I’m secretly hoping that we go to Thailand for our next trip to Asia.  đź™‚

Anyways, back to the restaurant.  I really wish that I had taken pictures of the ambiance because it was a bit fancy.  Not what I’m used to from a Thai restaurant!

However, I did not judge a book by its fancy cover, and I was still wowed with some great food!  Here are the dishes that we ordered…

Crying Tiger Steak

“Our most popular beef dish, we marinate our naturally tender USDA choice rib eye steak to order and cook it over an open flame. Then we transfer it to a griddle and cut it into strips where it sizzles in its own juices. We present it with Thai basil salad.”

Typically, I am less than impressed with the way the meat is cooked in many Crying Tiger dishes, or the flavors are very one-note.  I have to say that this was completely surprising!  The meat was perfectly seared and caramelized on the outside with a hint of juicy pink on the inside.  Delicious!  Also, there was an incredible amount of meat on the plate!  Definitely not stingy!

Pad Kee Mao

“We stir this refreshing dish using chicken breast meat, sweet basil, onions, bell peppers, Thai oyster and mushroom sauce, garlic and wide flat noodles. (Choice of chicken, pork, beef or shrimp)”

This is always one of my favorite dishes to order at Thai restaurants.  This is a great version because it uses my favorite super wide and flat noodles.  Delicious!

Well, why is this here?  I just love the golden serving bowl and the intricate spoon.  I think every restaurant should serve its rice this way!  Beautiful!

Fish Special

I am a terrible food blogger because I did not pay attention to the exact name of this dish.  Oops!  However, I can describe it as a fried fish dish with a very subtle ginger sauce with capers, Thai basil, more aromatics, and vegetables.  Very unique!

Overall, this was a nice surprise for a quick meal out, especially because I am very picky about my Thai food!  Next time, I will try some new dishes and share them all with you.
